# Getting funds to Rome

Every sale on Bloom is priced in **wUSDC**, the cash token for this deployment, and each transaction costs a little **Rome gas**. Before the [Investing](/apps-on-rome/bloom/investing.md) journey — browse, apply, buy — you need both in the wallet you will buy with. This page is how you get there.

> **There is no faucet that mints wUSDC on Rome directly.** Rome's gas is *bridged* value, not printed. So the cash-in for an EVM wallet is a real bridge from a testnet you can already fund (Sepolia), and then one wrap. It is three moves, and the app walks you through each.

The whole cash-in lives on one screen, **`/bridge`**, reachable from **Bridge** in the top navigation. This is the **EVM** path — a Solana wallet needs none of it and buys straight from its own USDC and SOL, covered in [the Solana section](#the-solana-wallet-journey--nothing-to-bring-across) below.

## The EVM wallet journey

Four steps take you from an empty wallet to a bought asset. The first is on Sepolia (off Bloom); the middle two are the `/bridge` screen; the last is the ordinary buy.

### 1 · Get test USDC on Sepolia

Bloom bridges **USDC** (via Circle's CCTP) or **ETH** (via Wormhole) *in* from Sepolia, so you start with testnet funds there:

* **Test USDC** — from Circle's testnet USDC faucet, to the EVM address you will bridge with.
* **A little Sepolia ETH** — from any Sepolia faucet. You need it to pay the gas for the Sepolia-side transactions that start the bridge (the approve and the burn).

> **You sign the source transaction yourself, on Sepolia.** The bridge is an off-chain orchestrator, not a custodian — no key of Bloom's can move your funds. The burn is signed in your own wallet; only then does the value settle on Rome.

### 2 · Bridge it to Rome

On `/bridge`, connect an **EVM** wallet (the source burn is signed on Sepolia, so a Solana wallet cannot bridge here — the screen says so). The bridge and the wrap sit **side by side**, each under its own heading. Then:

1. Pick the asset — **USDC** (via CCTP) or **ETH** (via Wormhole).
2. Enter an amount. The panel shows what you will receive on Rome, and the **Bring it to Rome** button lights **gold** the moment the amount is valid.
3. Press it. A live tracker appears and names **every wallet step honestly** — for USDC that is four: *switch to Sepolia*, *approve the bridge*, *burn on Sepolia*, *authorise the settlement*. Each index fills **done** as it lands, the current one reads *in progress*, so the count on screen is the count in your wallet.

Settlement on Rome takes a few minutes. The tracker's last row, **Settling on Rome**, stays *in progress* until the pod confirms — then the panel reads **arrived on Rome ✓** in green, and the value is at **your own address** on Rome.

> **Bridged USDC arrives as native Rome gas, not as wUSDC.** Circle's CCTP settles the inbound USDC as the chain's gas token. That is the right thing for paying for transactions — but the storefront prices assets in **wUSDC**, so there is one more move before you can buy.

### 3 · Wrap gas into wUSDC

The **wrap card** sits **beside** the bridge on `/bridge`, under its own heading, *Ready your cash to buy*. It converts the native gas you just bridged into the wUSDC the storefront takes:

1. Leave the direction on **Gas → wUSDC** (the reverse, **wUSDC → gas**, is there for when you want gas back).
2. Enter how much to wrap. Keep a little as gas for transaction fees; wrap the rest to spend.
3. Press **Wrap to wUSDC**. It is a **single Rome transaction** — no bridge, no attestation, unlike the bridge. The button reads *Waiting for your wallet…*, then *Confirming on Rome…*, and when the receipt lands it confirms **in green**: *✓ Wrapped — you now have about N wUSDC to buy an asset*, with a link to the tx. A reverted wrap says so plainly — it never reads as success.

> **This wrap is the gas-backed cash mint, and only for wUSDC.** wUSDC *is* the chain's gas value in ERC-20 form, so wrapping is a 1:1 conversion of gas you already hold. Other wrappers (wSOL, wETH) are their own token accounts and need no wrap step — this card is the wUSDC path specifically, the one the buy needs.

### 4 · Buy the asset

You now hold **wUSDC**. Go to [Investing](/apps-on-rome/bloom/investing.md) — `/invest`, pick an asset, clear the eligibility gate, and buy. The buy pulls wUSDC and, the first time, asks you to approve the storefront to take it. From here the journey is the ordinary one.

## Evidence — a real wrap, on chain

The wrap card is not a mock-up. A real wrap was signed through it in the browser and read back off the chain — the balance moved, not just a receipt returned.

## The Solana wallet journey — nothing to bring across

For a Solana wallet there is **no cash-in to Rome at all**, and that is the entire point. A Solana user already holds **USDC and SOL in their own wallet**. They connect, and they buy — signing with their Solana key, paying the fee in SOL, spending the cash their key already controls. Nothing is bridged, nothing is wrapped, nothing is moved to Rome first.

* **No bridge, no wrap.** The EVM journey above exists only because value starts on Sepolia and has to be carried across. A Solana user's value is already in their wallet; there is nothing to carry.
* **Fees in SOL, from your own wallet.** Each action is one Solana transaction, and its fee is paid in lamports directly — the SOL a Solana user already has.
* **Spent from your own key.** Only your Solana signature moves your cash or your asset. The two-lane mechanics — one deployment, the asset controlled by your key, no second token — are in [Investing → For a Solana holder](/apps-on-rome/bloom/investing.md#for-a-solana-holder), and a real Solana buy of the same asset is on the [Evidence](/apps-on-rome/bloom/evidence-investor.md) page.

> **If a Solana user had to bridge to Rome first, the lane would be pointless.** The whole value of the Solana-native lane is that nothing changes for the user: they interact with their own wallet, with the USDC and SOL already in it, and buy. The cash-in steps on this page are the **EVM** path — the one journey that genuinely has to cross a bridge.
